Inspection Procedure 3: When the speech switch is pressed, the voice information is output, but the voice recognition is not performed. < Vehicles with MMCS >: Diagnosis

Required Special Tools: 

  1. STEP 1. Check the diagnosis mode 
    • Display the "Hands Free Module" screen on the diagnosis mode of hands free module and check if the items of "HFM Self Check" and "HFM MIC Check" are shown "OK". (Refer to HANDS FREE MODULE .)

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Go to  Step 5.
    • NO:  Go to Step 2.
  2. STEP 2. Check hands free module connector C-110, microphone unit connector D-03, and multivision display connector C-152 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. 

    Q: Are hands free module connector C-110, microphone unit connector D-03, and multivision display connector C-152 in good condition? 

  3. STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between multivision display connector C-152 (terminal 54, 53) and microphone unit connector D-03 (terminal 2, 1). 
    • Check the signal lines for open circuit and short circuit.
    NOTE: Also check intermediate connectors C-130 and C-148 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If intermediate connector C-130 and C-148 is damaged, repair or replace the connector as described in HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .

    Q: Is the wiring harness between multivision display connector C-152 (terminal 54, 53) and microphone unit connector D-03 (terminal 2, 1) in good condition? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 4.
    • NO:  The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
  4. STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between multivision display connector C-152 (terminal 48, 56) and hands free module connector C-110 (terminal 14, 28). 
    • Check the signal lines for open circuit and short circuit.
    NOTE: Also check intermediate connector C-148 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If intermediate connector C-148 is damaged, repair or replace the connector as described in HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .

    Q: Is the wiring harness between multivision display connector C-152 (terminal 48, 56) and hands free module connector C-110 (terminal 14, 28) in good condition? 

    • YES:  Go to Step 5.
    • NO:  The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
  5. STEP 5. Replace the microphone unit temporarily, and check the trouble symptom. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Replace the microphone unit.
    • NO:  Go to Step 6.
  6. STEP 6. Replace the hands free module temporarily, and check the trouble symptom. 

    Q: Is the check result normal?
