Inspection Procedure 8: Voice Guide "Unable To Obtain Vehicle Speed - Please Try Again Or Contact Your Dealer For Service" Is Sent From The Speaker < Vehicles With MMCS >: Diagnosis

Required Special Tools:

MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: Vehicles Communication Interface (V.C.I.)
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A (Vehicles with CAN communication system)

STEP 1. Check the combination meter.
Check whether the speed meter works normally. (Refer to SPEEDOMETER CHECK .)

Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 2.
- NO: Diagnose the combination meter (Refer to COMBINATION METER - LANCER EVOLUTION ).
STEP 2. Check the multivision operation
check if the own vehicle mark is dislocated while driving.

Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: Diagnose the MMCS (Refer to TROUBLE SYMPTOM CHART .)
STEP 3. Using scan tool MB991958, read the CAN box unit diagnostic trouble code.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
1. Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Check if DTC is set.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is the DTC set?
- YES: Troubleshoot the MMCS (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).
- NO: Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the diagnosis mode
Check if the hands free module can be switched to the diagnosis mode. (Refer to DIAGNOSIS MODE < VEHICLES WITH MMCS > .)

Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5.
- NO: Perform Inspection Procedure 6: "DIAGNOSIS MODE cannot be made an entry. Mobile Phone item is not displayed on the INFOR screen of MMCS." (Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE 6: DIAGNOSIS MODE CANNOT BE MADE AN ENTRY. MOBILE PHONE ITEM IS NOT DISPLAYED ON THE INFOR SCREEN OF MMCS. < VEHICLES WITH MMCS > .)
STEP 5. Replace the hands free module temporarily, and check the trouble symptom.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Replace the hands free module.
- NO: Replace the multivision display.
