How To Read And Erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Required Special Tools: 

CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
NOTE: If a sensor is disconnected when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position, a diagnostic trouble code is stored in memory. In this case, erase the DTC using the scan tool.
NOTE: If the battery voltage is low, diagnostic trouble codes will not be set. Check the battery if scan tool MB991958 does not display.
  1. Connect scan tool MB991958 to data link connector (16-pin).

  2. Start up the MUT-III.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
  4. Start up the system, and then click the "Interactive Diagnosis" button after the start screen has appeared.
  5. Choose "System Select" button from the "Function Select Menu."
  6. Click the "xxxxx" button from the "xxxxxx" on "System check" screen.
  7. Click the "Self-diagnosis" button from the "xxxxx" screen.
  8. If a DTC is set, it is shown.
  9. Choose "DTC erase" button to erase the DTC.
  10. Return to the start screen by clicking the "Home" button.
  11. Terminate the MUT-III.
  12. Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position.
  13. Disconnect scan tool MB991958.
