Diagnosis & Repair

NOTE: For component location and connector identification, see Figure .
  1. Disconnect M-ASTC-ECU connector E-120. If buzzer turns off, replace M-ASTC-ECU, then go to step  5 . If buzzer does not turn off, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect transfer-ECU connector E-104. If buzzer turns off, replace transfer-ECU, then go to step  5 . If buzzer does not turn off, go to next step.
  3. Check the following connectors for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector:
    • Buzzer connector E-107.
    • M-ASTC-ECU connector E-120.
    • Transfer-ECU connector E-104.

    If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  5 . If problem is not found, go to next step.

  4. Check the following wires:
    • Wire between buzzer connector E-107 terminal No. 2 and M-ASTC-ECU connector E-120 terminal No. 54.
    • Wire between buzzer connector E-107 terminal No. 2 and transfer-ECU connector E-104 terminal No. 51.

    Also, check intermediate connector E-114 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to next step. If problem is not found, go to next step.

  5. Connect scan tool MB991502 to data link connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, perform actuator test and sound the buzzer. If buzzer sounds for 3 seconds and then turns off, repair is complete. If buzzer does not sound for 3 seconds and then turn off, go to step  1 .
