Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Unit Check

  1. Drain the engine coolant. (Refer to 14. ENGINE COOLANT (CHANGE) .)
  2. Remove the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
  3. Immerse the unit in 83°C (181°F) water to measure the resistance.

    Standard value: 65.2 +/- 75.2 Ω

  4. If within the standard value, the sensor is OK. Reinstall it, then check the engine coolant temperature gauge (Refer to 14. ENGINE COOLANT (CHANGE) ). If not within the standard value, replace it.
  5. Also check, apply the 3M™ AAD part number 8731, Locktite®242 or equivalent around the threads of the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
  6. Add engine coolant. (Refer to 14. ENGINE COOLANT (CHANGE) .)
