Diagnosis & Repair
NOTE:
For component location and connector identification, see Figure
.
- Check buzzer connector E-107 and M-ASTC-ECU connector E-120 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step 7 . If problem is not found, go to next step.
- Disconnect M-ASTC-ECU connector E-120. Turn ignition on. Connect terminal No. 54 to body ground. If buzzer sounds, replace M-ASTC-ECU, then go to step 7 . If buzzer does not sound, go to next step.
- Remove buzzer. See BUZZER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect battery to buzzer as illustrated. See Fig 1 . If buzzer sounds, replace buzzer, then go to step 7 . If buzzer does not sound, go to next step.
- Disconnect buzzer connector E-107. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and buzzer connector E-107 terminal No. 1. Battery voltage should exist. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 6 .
- Check wire between HBB buzzer connector E-107 terminal No. 2 and M-ASTC-ECU connector E-120 terminal No. 54. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step 7 . If problem is not found, go to next step.
- Check wire between buzzer connector E-107 terminal No. 1 and junction block connector D-208 terminal No. 4. Also, check intermediate connector D-116, intermediate connector E-111 and junction block connector D-212 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to next step. If problem is not found, go to next step.
- Chock wheels, then start engine. After at least 120 seconds have elapsed, release parking brake lever, then depress brake pedal rapidly 15 to 20 times within 10 seconds. If HBB buzzer sounds, system is functioning properly. If buzzer does not sound, go to step 1 .
