Diagnosis & Repair

NOTE: For component location and connector identification, see Figure .
  1. Inspect combination meter connector D-03 and M-ASTC-ECU connector E-121 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  4 . If problem is not found, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect M-ASTC-ECU connector E-121. Turn ignition on. Connect terminal No. 81 to a body ground. Observe brake warning light. If brake warning light turns off, replace M-ASTC-ECU, then go to step  4 . If brake warning light does not turn off, go to next step.
  3. Check wire between combination meter connector D-03 terminal No. 55 and M-ASTC-ECU connector E-121 terminal No. 81. Also, check intermediate connector E-111 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  4 . If problem is not found, replace combination meter, then go to step  4 .
  4. Recheck system operation. Brake warning light should illuminate for 3 seconds after ignition is turned on. If operation is as specified, repair is complete. If operation is not as specified, go to step  1 .
