Diagnosis & Repair

NOTE: For component location and connector identification, see Figure .
  1. Turn ignition on. If brake warning light illuminates, go to next step. If brake warning light does not illuminate, go to step  5 .
  2. Disconnect M-ASTC-ECU connector E-121. Turn ignition on. Observe brake warning light. Brake warning light should illuminate. If brake warning light illuminates, replace M-ASTC-ECU. If brake warning light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  3. Inspect combination meter connector D-03 and M-ASTC-ECU connector E-121 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  9 . If problem is not found, go to next step.
  4. Check wire between combination meter connector D-03 terminal No. 55 and M-ASTC-ECU connector E-121 terminal No. 81. Also, check intermediate connector E-111 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  9 . If problem is not found, replace combination meter, then go to step  9 .
  5. Disconnect combination meter connector D-03. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 62. Battery voltage should exist. If battery voltage exists, replace combination meter, then go to step  9 . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  6. Inspect combination meter connector D-03 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  9 . If problem is not found, go to next step.
  7. Check wire between combination meter connector D-03 terminal No. 62 and junction block connector D-208 terminal No. 2. Also, check intermediate connector D-210 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  9 . If problem is not found, go to next step.
  8. Check wire between combination meter connector D-03 terminal No. 57 and ground. Also, check joint connector (8) D-30 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to next step. If problem is not found, go to next step.
  9. Recheck system operation. Brake warning light should illuminate for 3 seconds after ignition is turned on. If operation is as specified, repair is complete. If operation is not as specified, go to step  1 .
