INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1: The RV Meter does not Show Any Information.: Diagnosis

Required Special Tool: 

  1. MB991223: Harness Set
  1. STEP 1. Check the RV meter ground circuit at the RV meter connector D-07 by backprobing. 
    1. Do not disconnect the RV meter connector D-07.

    2. Measure the resistance between terminal 28 and ground by backprobing.

    Q: Is the resistance value less than 2 ohms? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step  Step 4
    2. NO:  Go to Step 2.
  2. STEP 2. Check the RV meter connector D-07 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

    Q: Is the RV meter connector D-07 in good condition? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 3.
    2. NO:  Repair or replace it. .
  3. STEP 3. Check the harness wires between RV meter connector D-07 (terminal 28) and ground. 
    NOTE: Also check joint connectors D-30, check the wires. If joint connectors D-30 is damaged, repair or replace it. .

    Q: Is the harness wires between RV meter connector D-07 (terminal 28) and ground in good condition? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4.
    2. NO:  Replace the RV meter. The RV meter should work normally.
  4. STEP 4. Check the RV meter power supply circuit (battery) at the RV meter connector D-07 by backprobing. 
    1. Do not disconnect the RV meter connector D-07.

    2. Measure the voltage between terminal 26 and ground by backprobing.

    Q: Is the voltage approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step  Step 7
    2. NO:  Go to Step 5.
  5. STEP 5. Check RV meter connector D-07 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

    Q: Is RV meter connector D-07 in good condition? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 6.
    2. NO:  Repair or replace it. . The RV meter should work normally.
  6. STEP 6. Check the harness wires between D-07 (terminal 26) and battery. 
    NOTE: Also check joint connector D-02 and intermediate connector D-28, check the wires. If joint connector D-02 and intermediate connector D-28 are damaged, repair or replace them. .

    Q: Is the harness wires between D-07 (terminal 26) and battery in good condition? 

    1. YES:  There is no action to be taken.
    2. NO:  Repair them. The RV meter should work normally.
  7. STEP 7. Check the RV meter power supply circuit [ignition switch (ACC)] at the RV meter connector D-07 by backprobing. 
    1. Do not disconnect the RV meter connector D-07.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to "ACC" position.
    3. Measure the voltage between terminal 25 and ground by backprobing.

    Q: Is the voltage approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)? 

    1. YES:  The RV meter should work.
    2. NO:  Go to Step 8.
  8. STEP 8. Check RV meter connector D-07 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

    Q: Is RV meter connector D-07 in good condition? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 9.
    2. NO:  Repair or replace it. . The RV meter should work normally.
  9. STEP 9. Check the harness wires between D-07 (terminal 25) and ignition switch (ACC).

    NOTE: Also check joint connector D-29 and junction block connector D-208 and D-210, check the wires. If joint connector D-29 and junction block connector D-208 and D-210 are damaged, repair or replace them.

    Q: Is the harness wires between D-07 (terminal 25) and ignition switch (ACC) in good condition? 

    1. YES:  There is no action to be taken.
    2. NO:  Repair them. The RV meter should work normally.
  10. STEP 10. Recheck for malfunction. 

    Q: Is a malfunction eliminated? 

    1. YES:  If no malfunctions are not found in all steps, an intermittent malfunction is suspected.
    2. NO:  Replace the RV meter.
