Hydraulic Pressure Tests: Notes

  1. Check the transmission fluid level. Ensure transmission fluid temperature is 158-176°F (70-80°C) and engine coolant temperature is 176-212°F (80-100°C).
  2. Raise the vehicle so wheels are free to turn.
  3. Install oil pressure gauge and adapters to each pressure discharge port. See Figure .
  4. Restart the engine. Check that there are no leaks around the port adaptors.
  5. Measure hydraulic pressure at each pressure port (except the torque converter port) with engine speed of 2500 RPM in each gear position. If torque converter pressure is measured, engine speed should not exceed 1500 RPM. For pressure port specifications, refer to illustration. See Figure . Go to next step.
  6. If line pressure is as specified, remove pressure gauge and adapters and install pressure port plugs using NEW "O" rings. If line pressure is not as specified, use the following symptoms for trouble shooting results of the line pressure test.
