Brake Warning Light Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Ensure that brake fluid level is between MIN and MAX markings on brake fluid reservoir. Chock wheels and release parking brake.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Observe brake warning light while turning ignition switch from ON to START and back to ON again. Brake warning light should extinguish after 3 seconds. If operation is not as specified, retrieve DTCs, see RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Repair as directed. If no DTCs are present, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
