Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Unit Check

  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
  3. Immerse the unit in 70°C (158°F) water to measure the resistance. See Fig 1 . Standard value: 90.5-117.5ohm
  4. If within the standard value, the sensor is OK. Reinstall it, then check the engine coolant temperature gauge. See Fig 1 . If not within the standard value, replace it.
  5. After checking, apply the 3M(tm) AAD part number 8731, Locktite(R) 242 or equivalent around the threads of the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
  6. Add engine coolant.
