Instrument Panel Rheostat Test

Remove rheostat from instrument panel. Connect battery and 40-watt test light to rheostat. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . Operate rheostat. If brightness changes smoothly without switching off, rheostat function is normal. If brightness does not change smoothly or switches off, replace rheostat.
