SRS Warning Light Does Not Come On

  1. Before proceeding, read and understand all air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Shield cable terminal. Wait at least 60 seconds before servicing. Remove rear console assembly for access to SDU. See Figure .
  2. At SDU connector, use a screwdriver to push lock spring horizontally (toward SDU) to unlock lock lever (DO NOT insert screwdriver between lock lever and lock spring). See Figure . Press and hold lock lever in and disconnect SDU Red 14-pin connector.
  3. Connect SDU Red 14-pin connector to SRS Check Harness (MB991530) connector No. 3. See Figure . At SRS check harness connector No. 5, check for continuity between ground and terminals No. 19 and 20. See Figure . If continuity does not exist, replace wiring harness.
  4. If continuity exists, reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Connect terminal 13 of the SRS Check Harness (MB991530) connector No. 3. to body ground. Connect terminal 14 of the SRS Check Harness (MB991530) connector No. 3. to body ground. If SRS warning light illuminates, replace SDU. If SRS warning light fails to illuminate, check SRS warning light bulb.
