Retrieving Codes Using Voltmeter

  1. With ignition off, connect voltmeter positive probe to terminal No. 3 of self-diagnostic connector, located under right side of dash. See Fig 1. Connect voltmeter negative probe to terminal No. 12 of self-diagnostic connector.
  2. Turn ignition on. Read and record self-diagnostic (trouble) code(s) on basis of deflection of voltmeter needle. See Figure. If 2 or more trouble codes are stored, lowest number code will be indicated first.
  3. Use SERVICE DATA INSPECTION CHART, COMPONENT TESTING and ECS wiring diagram to check all circuits associated with trouble code. See Service Data Inspection  and Figure. See COMPONENT TESTING.
