Resistance Tests
- Disconnect Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between TPS terminals No. 1 and 4. See Fig 1. If resistance is 3500-6500 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 3500-6500 ohms, replace TPS.
- Measure resistance between TPS terminals No. 2 and 4 while slowly moving throttle plate. If resistance varies in direct relation to throttle plate position, TPS is okay. If resistance does not vary in direct relation to throttle plate position, replace TPS.
