Removal (Van/Wagon)

  1. Release residual fuel pressure from fuel system. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE .
    NOTE: Manufacturer suggests removing engine and transaxle as a unit.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system, engine oil and transaxle oil. Remove driver's seat. Remove battery cover from floor, under driver's seat. Remove seat underframe from floor between seats.
  3. Remove radiator fan shroud, hoses and cooling fan assembly. Leaving hoses connected, remove power steering pump and A/C compressor and support aside.
  4. Disconnect all necessary electrical connectors, vacuum hoses, fuel hoses, coolant hoses and cables. Remove strut bars. Disconnect transmission cooling lines and shift control cable. Disconnect exhaust pipes and drive shaft.
  5. Support engine and transmission assembly with hoist. Raise assembly slightly. Remove engine and transmission mounting bolts. Ensure all cables, hoses and electrical harnesses are disconnected from engine. Remove engine and transmission from engine compartment.
