Removal (Mirage 1.5L)

  1. Fuel pressure must be released. To release fuel pressure, disconnect fuel pump connector. Fuel pump connector is located under rear seat cushion on Mirage models.
  2. With fuel pump connector disconnected, start engine and allow to idle until it stops. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery terminal and reconnect fuel pump connector. Drain cooling system.
  3. Remove air intake hoses and air breather hoses. It may be necessary to remove air cleaner assembly. Disconnect necessary electrical connections from intake manifold, injectors and throttle body.
  4. Disconnect vacuum hoses from intake manifold and delivery pipe. Disconnect coolant hoses from manifold and remove upper radiator hose.
  5. Remove fuel supply and return lines from delivery pipe. Disconnect all control cables and electrical connections at throttle body. Disconnect distributor electrical connectors and spark plug wires. Remove distributor.
  6. Remove delivery pipe bolts and remove delivery pipe with fuel injectors and pressure regulator. DO NOT  allow fuel injector to fall from delivery pipe during removal.
  7. Remove support brace from below intake manifold. Remove engine lift bracket and power transistor bracket. Remove lower intake manifold-to-cylinder head bolts. Remove lower intake manifold and gasket. See Figure. Remove brace and separate upper and lower intake manifold sections. Remaining components can be removed from intake manifold if required.
