Removal (Precis 1.5L)
- Drain coolant and remove upper radiator hose. Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD . Remove exhaust manifold. See EXHAUST MANIFOLD .
- Remove fan, spacer, water pump pulley and upper section of timing belt cover. Loosen timing belt tensioner and move belt tensioner toward the water pump. Temporarily tighten tensioner bolt.
- Note location of timing belt on camshaft sprocket. Remove timing belt from camshaft sprocket.
CAUTION:
DO NOT
allow timing belt to come off of crankshaft sprocket or rotate engine with timing belt removed from camshaft. It may be necessary to remove timing belt. See TIMING BELT under CAMSHAFT in this article.
- Remove rocker cover. Using Wrench (09221-11000), loosen head bolts in proper sequence. See Fig 1. Remove cylinder head.
