Rocker Arm Assembly & Camshaft: Installation

  1. If camshaft oil seal was removed, lubricate front O.D. of camshaft. Using Seal Installer (MD998306-01 and MD998307-01), install and camshaft bearing journals and install camshaft into cylinder head.
  2. Check camshaft end play. End play should not exceed .016" (.4 mm). Install rocker arm assembly to cylinder head. Remove Rocker Arm Sleeves (MD998443-01), being careful not to let auto-lash adjusters fall out. Tighten rocker shaft mounting bolts uniformly to 15-19 ft. lbs. (20-27 N.m). Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.

  2. Check camshaft end play. End play should not exceed .016" (.4 mm). Install rocker arm assembly to cylinder head. Remove Rocker Arm Sleeves (MD998443-01), being careful not to let auto-lash adjusters fall out. Tighten rocker shaft mounting bolts uniformly to 15-19 ft. lbs. (20-27 N.m). Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.
CAUTION: Crank angle sensor must be installed with mark on housing aligned with notch on plate or incorrect fuel and ignition timing will result.
