Removal (2.0L DOHC)

  1. Release fuel pressure by disconnecting fuel pump connector located near the fuel tank. Start engine and allow to idle until it stops. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery terminal and reconnect fuel pump connector.
  2. Remove air intake hose. Drain cooling system. Disconnect coolant hoses from intake manifold. Remove throttle body support bracket. Disconnect and label all vacuum hoses from intake manifold, injectors and throttle body. Disconnect throttle cable.
  3. Disconnect electrical connectors from fuel injectors, idle speed control servo motor and EGR temperature sensor (Calif. only). Disconnect distributor electrical connectors and spark plug wires. Remove fuel pressure and return lines from delivery pipe.
  4. Disconnect all control cables and electrical connections at throttle body. Remove delivery pipe bolts and remove delivery pipe with fuel injectors and pressure regulator.
  5. Ensure that fuel injectors are secured to delivery pipe during removal. Remove support brace from below intake manifold. Remove lower intake manifold-to-cylinder head bolts. Remove intake manifold and gasket. See Figure. Remaining components can be removed from intake manifold if required.
