Removal (Van/Wagon)

Disconnect fuel pump connector at fuel pump. Start engine and allow to idle until it stalls. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Reconnect fuel pump connector. Remove fuel lines and vapor hoses from engine. Drain cooling system, engine oil and transaxle oil.
Slide driver seat forward and remove rear cover. Lift and secure passenger seat. Remove seat and adjust underframe as necessary. Remove radiator fan shroud, hoses and cooling fan assembly. Disconnect control harness connectors. Disconnect electrical connectors from oxygen sensor, A/C compressor, alternator, and oil pressure switch. See Figure. Remove throttle cables.
Disconnect power steering pump leaving hoses attached and secure with wire away from work area. Disconnect A/C compressor with hoses attached and secure with wire away from work area. If necessary, discharge A/C system and remove compressor from vehicle.
Remove starter motor wiring and speedometer cable. Disconnect engine ground cable and transaxle electrical connectors. Disconnect all vacuum hoses to engine. Remove strut bars. Disconnect transaxle cooling lines and shift control cable. Disconnect exhaust pipes and drive shaft.
Remove heater hoses. Support engine and transaxle with hoist. Raise engine slightly. Remove engine mount bolts. Ensure all cables, hoses and electrical harnesses are disconnected from engine. Remove engine and transaxle from engine compartment.
