Removal (Starion)

  1. Remove rear disc caliper assembly. Secure caliper out of way. Separate drive shaft from companion flange. Remove axle housing from lower control arm. Remove strut assembly from axle housing. Remove axle shaft assembly. See Fig 1 .
  2. Loosen companion flange mounting nut. Using plastic hammer, tap axle shaft out of axle housing. Use care not to damage oil seal. Remove spacer and dust covers from inside axle housing. Using a drift, drive inner bearing and oil seal from axle housing.
