Front Disc Brake Rotor: Installation

1. Using Bolt (MB990998), install hub and rotor assembly into knuckle. On Cordia and Tredia, tighten bolt to 144-188 ft. lbs. (196-256 N.m). Rotate hub to seat bearings. Measure hub starting torque and wheel bearing end play.
2. Starting torque should be 11 INCH lbs. (1.3 N.m) on 2WD models, or 16 INCH lbs. (1.8 N.m) on 4WD models, or greater. End play should be .008" (.20 mm) or more. If not, check for correct installation of hub. On all models, reverse removal procedure to complete installation.

To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten wheel bearings to 14 ft. lbs. (19 N.m). Loosen nut and then retighten to 48 INCH lbs. (5 N.m). Install cotter pin. If pin does not align, loosen nut 15 degrees maximum.

1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Using dial indicator, check drive axle end play. End play must be adjusted during reassembly if not within .008-.020" (.20-.50 mm). Rotate drive axle forward and rearward until maximum end play is obtained.
2. If axle shaft end play requires adjustment, select proper shim to obtain proper end play. Shim is located behind snap ring on end of drive axle. Install shim and recheck axle end play.

To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten wheel bearings to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N.m). Loosen nut and then retighten to 72 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). Install cotter pin. If pin does not align, loosen nut 30 degrees maximum.
