Inspection & Reassembly

Check valve head and seat for damage and ensure jet valve slides smoothly in body and no play exists.
Measure valve length, stem O.D. and spring free length and tension. Replace valve assembly if not within specifications. See JET VALVE SPECIFICATIONS table in this article.
To reassemble, install new stem seal using Seal Installer (49 U012 006) for Mazda B2600 models and (MD998308-01) on all other models. Coat valve stem with new oil and install. Ensure valves slide smoothly. Repeat procedure for remaining components.
