Removal (Conquest, Starion)

  1. Fuel pressure must be released. Remove floor panel located in baggage compartment. Start engine and disconnect fuel gauge wiring connector. Allow engine to stall and disconnect negative battery cable. Reconnect wiring connector.
  2. Remove hood, air cleaner and intercooler air hoses. Disconnect all vacuum hoses, fuel hoses and electrical connectors. Drain cooling system, transmission and engine oil. Remove all coolant hoses and radiator. Disconnect all control cables.
  3. Remove all drive belts. Remove and support power steering pump and A/C compressor with hoses (if equipped). Disconnect O2 sensor and remove exhaust manifold. Disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connections at transmission.
  4. Place reference marks on drive shaft and companion flange. Remove drive shaft. Remove clutch release cylinder, gearshift assembly and engine mount bolts.
    CAUTION: Transmission must be in Neutral position when removing gearshift assembly.
  5. Support transmission. Remove insulator bolts and crossmember. Remove engine and transmission assembly.
