Rod Bearings Service: Notes

Ensure rod caps are properly marked with cylinder number. Remove rod cap and move rod away for crankshaft slightly. Remove rod bearings. Install new rod bearing and check clearance with Plastigage method. Correct clearance if not within specifications. See MAIN & ROD BEARINGS  table at end of this article. Tighten rod caps to specifications evenly in 2 or 3 steps.
