Valve Clearance Adjustments
NOTE:
Jet valve clearance adjustment must be made before intake valve is adjusted. Also, readjust after cylinder head is retightened.
- Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Remove all spark plugs for ease of operation. Remove valve cover and position No. 1 piston at TDC of compression stroke to adjust clearances marked "A". See Fig 1
.CAUTION: Never turn crankshaft counterclockwise. Jet valve spring is comparatively weak and must not be forced in when making adjustment.
- Position cylinder No. 4 at TDC of compression stroke to adjust clearances marked "B". Adjust by repeating steps 1) and 2).
