Camshaft (1.5L): Installation
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Thoroughly lubricate camshaft and seal lips. Use Seal Installer set (MD998306-01 and MD998307-01) to install camshaft oil seal. Ensure camshaft sprocket mark is aligned with timing mark on cylinder head. See Figure
. Ensure threaded hole in camshaft thrust case is facing up.
- Check camshaft end play. If excessive, replace thrust plate and recheck. If end play is still excessive, check rear of camshaft journal for wear. If badly worn, replace camshaft.
- Temporarily set valve clearance to cold engine settings. Readjust to hot engine settings when engine is at normal operating temperature.
