Piston Pin Installation

  1. Check piston pin-to-bore fit. Pin should press in smoothly by hand at room temperature. When assembling, apply engine oil to outside of pin and piston pin bore.
  2. Position rod in piston with arrow mark on piston and identification mark on connecting rod facing upward. Align pin with pin installer, and press pin into piston and rod.
NOTE: Pin-to-rod fit at normal temperature requires 1653-3858 lbs. (750-1750 kg) to press pin through rod.
