Engine - Van/Wagon: Removal

  1. Depressurize fuel system by starting engine with disabled fuel pump and wait until engine dies.
  2. Engine compartment is under front seats. Remove front seats and engine compartment cover/lid. Cover behind driver's seat will also give access to battery.
  3. Disconnect battery and all electrical connectors to engine and transmission, disconnect speedometer and throttle cables.
  4. Remove radiator fan shroud, radiator upper and lower hoses, and heater hoses. Remove A/C compressor and all vacuum and fuel lines.
  5. Remove strut bars and exhaust pipe connections. Remove transmission control cable connections and drive shaft.
  6. Firmly support oil pan with jack and wooden blocks. Remove engine support front insulator assemblies. DO NOT  raise engine too much to avoid component damage.
  7. Remove rear engine mounting bolt and engine mounting bolts and nuts to crossmember.
  8. Ensure all hoses, cables and wirings are disconnected from engine. Slowly, lower engine down.
