Cylinder Head & Manifolds: Installation

  1. Install cylinder head gasket with gasket identification mark facing cylinder head. See CYLINDER HEAD GASKET IDENTIFICATION  Table. DO NOT  apply sealant to gasket or mating surfaces. Install cylinder head and head bolts.

  2. Tighten bolts in sequence to 1/2 of TORQUE specification, then tighten to final specification. See Fig 1. Install camshaft sprocket and timing belt, ensuring timing mark alignment and belt tension are correct.
  3. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Replace coolant. Adjust belts, valves and accelerator cable. With engine at operating temperature, adjust timing and idle speed.
