Oil Pump & Front Cover: Installation

Install oil pump gears in front case and align timing marks on gears with timing marks facing toward oil pump cover. See Fig 1. Install pump cover and tighten bolts.

Install Guide (MD998285-01) on end of crankshaft with smaller diameter toward front of engine. Lightly oil guide. Install new front cover gasket. Install front cover and lightly tighten 8 mounting bolts.
Insert screwdriver through plug hole in left side of block to keep left silent shaft in position. Tighten driven gear-to-silent shaft bolt. Install oil filter bracket and tighten front case bolts.
Apply sealant to 4 locations on cylinder block where oil seal case and front case join cylinder block. Install oil pan with new gasket. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.

CAUTION: Prior to installing oil pump, fill with sufficient amount of engine oil to prime pump.
