Oil Pump & Front Cover: Inspection

  1. Inspect gears, front cover and seal for wear or damage. Reinstall gears as originally installed in front case and measure gear side clearance. Clearance should not exceed.005" (.13 mm).
  2. Check gear contacting surfaces of front cover and oil pump cover for step wear. Replace front cover assembly if either excessive clearance, or step wear is evident.
