Engine Identification

NOTE: For engine repair procedures not covered in this article, see ENGINE OVERHAUL PROCEDURES - GENERAL INFORMATION article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped on a metal plate at upper left corner of instrument panel, near windshield. The 8th character identifies engine and 10th character identifies model year. Engine model code and serial number are stamped on top edge of right front side of cylinder block near alternator.
