Removal (Pickup)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove hood and air cleaner. Disconnect heater and brake booster vacuum hoses. Disconnect fuel hoses and accelerator cable.
  2. Disconnect wiring from starter, alternator, coil and water temperature and oil pressure sending units. Remove radiator assembly. Disconnect clutch cable and remove front exhaust pipe.
  3. Remove power steering pump, if equipped. Remove undercover and other protective transmission covers, if equipped. Disconnect speedometer cable, back-up light harness and 4WD indicator light switch, if equipped.
  4. Mark for reference, and remove drive shafts. Remove gearshift lever assembly. Support transmission, disconnect rear insulator from transmission and remove crossmember.
  5. Disconnect and remove transfer case mounting bracket and support insulator from transfer case. Remove front engine insulator mounting nuts. Attach lifting cables. With front of engine tilted upward, remove engine/transmission assembly.
