Removal (Diesel 4WD Pickup)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove brake drum. Remove shoe return spring, shoe retainer spring and shoe hold-down pin.
  2. Remove shoe and lining assembly and shoe and lever assembly. Remove cable from parking lever. Remove brake tube from wheel cylinder and wheel cylinder from backing plate.
  3. Remove backing plate together with axle shaft. DO NOT remove backing plate from axle shaft, unless absolutely necessary.
