Brake System Description

Brake system is hydraulically-operated using a master cylinder with a single reservoir and 2 outlets, a vacuum power brake unit, and a proportioning valve to control braking action. All brake systems are self-adjusting.

All models are equipped with sliding caliper type front disc brakes. All 2WD pickups and gasoline-powered 4WD pickups use duo-servo type rear drum brakes. All other models use leading-trailing shoe type rear drum brakes. The parking brake cable actuates the rear drum brakes.
