Fuel Gauge: Notes

  1. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit wire at fuel tank. Connect appropriate resistor between wire and ground. Gauge should read as indicated in FUEL GAUGE RESISTANCE  .
  2. If the resistance measured is excessively high or low, the coil is probably defective and gauge replacement is recommended.

Application Empty Full
Montero 120 Ohms 17 Ohms
Cordia/Tredia 110 Ohms 3 Ohms
Starion N/A 21 Ohms
All Others 95 Ohms 7 Ohms
NOTE: Grounding wire too long can damage gauge coils. Perform test as quickly as possible.
