65 11 080 Removing and installing (replacing) radio

Special tools required: 

IMPORTANT:

Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) .

Carry out installation in a dust-free workshop area only.

To avoid damage, do not touch or dirty the display area.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Removal: 

Unclip and remove the trim (1) with the special tool 00 9 327 toward the top.

Release screws (1).

When replacing on the equipment specification with chrome trim (3) for vehicles with a production date up to 07/2015: 

Chrome trim (3) must be unmounted from the used part on the new part.

If the chrome trim (3) is faulty, it can be ordered individually via BMW/MINI.

Cover the area (1) with adhesive tape.

In case of reuse of the trim (3) cover area (2).

Lift trim (3) on the point marked with the arrow carefully with the appropriate tool. Lift and remove the trim (3) over the complete length carefully.

Mount removed trim (3) on the new part.

Unlock lock (1) with screwdriver in direction of arrow and at the same time pull central instrument towards passenger compartment.

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Remove the central instrument with the radio (2).

Replacement: 

Loosen screws (1).

Remove the radio (2) from the central instrument (3).

Installation: 

Replacement: 

Properly position the radio (2) on the central instrument (3).

Tighten down screws (1).

Connect and lock the plug connections (1) on the central instrument with radio (2).

Press latch mechanism (1) on central instrument (3) on left and right in direction of arrow.

Latch mechanism (1) must engage on left and right behind IHKA controls (2).

Press on central instrument at top on instrument panel and engage.

Tighten down screws (1).

Engage cover (1) correctly in instrument panel (2).
