Draining and topping up coolant (Cooper)

Risk of scalding!
Only carry out repair work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
IMPORTANT:
Wear hand protection and safety goggles.
IMPORTANT:
For contamination of the cooling system (e.g. by motor oil), the cooling system must be rinsed with water until all contamination is removed!
IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage!
Use approved coolant only.
Follow INSTRUCTIONS for repair work on the cooling system.
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
- Remove front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove THRUST FIELD .
Remove FAN COWL .
Draining coolant:
Unscrew the sealing cap (1) of the coolant expansion tank.
Unlock and detach coolant hose (1) from radiator at top.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
Unlock coolant hose (1) and detach from coolant pump.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
Adding coolant:
Observe FILLING CAPACITIES .
Observe the appropriate water/antifreeze mixture ratio.
Vent and top up the COOLING SYSTEM with vacuum filling unit.
Check COOLING SYSTEM for tightness.
Required follow-up work:
- Install INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
- Install THRUST FIELD .
- Install front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
