Adjusting tailgate lock (Cooper Convertible)

Prerequisite:
Rear lid must be correctly adjusted to fit; if necessary, Adjust REAR LID .
Carefully lever out trim (1) with a suitable tool.
Installation note:
Ensure cover (1) is correctly seated.
NOTE:
The operation is shown on the left side; proceed in the same way for the right side.
Slacken screws (1) until it is possible to shift the striker (2).
Close trunk lid and hold release button pressed so that the trunk lid lock snaps closed.
This corrects the position of the striker.
Open trunk lid.
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque: 51 24 2AZ .
Check alignment of trunk lid and striker, re-adjust if necessary.
Adjust the trunk lid buffer to the body aperture.
IMPORTANT:
Do not adjust buffers too wide, as otherwise preload will occur during height adjustment!
