Removing And Installing Engine Compartment Lid (Cooper Clubman F54)

Use suitable tool to support hood in the fully opened position.

Removal of the engine compartment lid must be carried out with the assistance of a second person.

Preliminary Work Needed: 

• DISCONNECT THE HOSE PIPE OF THE SPRAY NOZZLES AND LOOSEN FROM THE HOOD HINGE .

Removal: 

DISENGAGE gas spring (1) on left and right from engine compartment lid.

Slacken nuts (2) on left and right.

Release nuts (3) on left and right.

Remove engine compartment lid and set down on a suitable surface.

Installation: 

Install engine compartment lid with a second person helping. Tighten the nuts (2) and (3) on the left and right.

Tightening torque 41 61 1AZ .

ENGAGE gas spring (1) on left and right on engine compartment lid.

Installation note: 

Install the hood after having highlighted the screw marks on the hinge.

If necessary, adjust ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID .

Required reworking: 

• DISCONNECT THE HOSE PIPE OF THE SPRAY NOZZLES AND LOOSEN FROM THE HOOD HINGE .
