Remove clean air pipe (B48 and B46 engines) (Cooper Clubman S and JCW)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove ACOUSTIC COVER 
• Remove strut brace.
• Remove top FIREWALL COVER .
• Remove rear WINDSHIELD PANEL COVER .

Removal: 

Release expansion rivet (1).

Release screw (2).

Remove partition wall (3).

Release expanding rivets (1).

Remove mounting for engine compartment lid gasket.

Unscrew the screws (1).

Unclip fuel line from holder (2).

Remove second firewall at top.

Release clamps (1).

Release clean air pipe from intake silencer housing.

Remove screw (2).

Release line (3) and disconnect from cylinder head cover.

Release line (1) and disconnect.

Unlock clamp (2).

Raise clean air pipe, release connector (1) on heating element and disconnect.

Remove clean air pipe.

Preparation for installation: 

Replace molded sealing ring (1) on the exhaust turbocharger.

Installation: 

Feed in clean air pipe and attach connector (1) to heating element.

Connector (1) must engage audibly.

Connect line (1) to clean air pipe.

Line (1) must audibly engage.

Connect the clean air pipe intake silencer housing.

Tighten clamp (1).

Tightening torque 13 71 3AZ .

Tighten screw (2).

Tightening torque 13 71 6AZ .

Connect line (3) to cylinder head cover.

Line (3) must audibly engage.

Position second firewall at top.

Tighten down screws (1).

Clip in fuel line into holder (2).

Position mounting for engine compartment lid gasket.

Secure expanding rivets (1).

Position partition wall (3).

Tighten screw (2).

Attach expanding rivet (1).

Required follow-up work: 

• Install rear WINDSHIELD PANEL COVER .
• Install TOP FIREWALL COVER .
• Install ACOUSTIC COVER .
• Install strut brace.
