Completely remove and install the left or right trailing arm (AWD)
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove rear WHEEL .
Removal:
Lever off protective cap (1).
Release collar screw (1), press brake pedal to floor for this purpose.
Tie up output shaft.
- Remove COIL SPRING .
Loosen screw (1).
Unscrew wheel speed sensor (2) from the trailing arm and set aside.
Loosen screws (1).
Take off brake caliper (2) with holder and tie back.
Unclip brake line (1) from holder (2) on trailing arm.
Release nut and remove screws (1).
Mark position of eccentric shim to trailing arm to simplify subsequent adjustment of rear axle.
Slacken nut (2).
Remove eccentric washer and unscrew screw.
Loosen the screws (1) from the trailing arm bearing support on the body.
Remove the trailing arm (1) with the trailing arm bearing support.
Installation:
Position the trailing arm (1) with the trailing arm bearing support on the vehicle.
Tighten the screws (1) from the trailing arm bearing support on the body.
Replace screws.
Tightening torque 33 32 5AZ .
Part : Replace nut.
Insert screw (1) and tighten nut.
Tightening torque 33 32 1AZ .
Replace the screw (2), insert it and connect the eccentric washer.
Part : Replace screw and nut (2).
Align eccentric washer to the marked position.
Screw on the nut (2).
- Do not yet tighten to specified torque!
Shift vehicle into NORMAL POSITION .
Tighten nut (2) in normal position.
Tightening torque 33 32 2AZ .
Position brake caliper (2) with holder.
Part : Replace screws (1).
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 34 21 2AZ .
Position wheel speed sensor (2) on the trailing arm.
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 34 51 5AZ.
- Install the HELICAL SPRING .
- Pay attention to installation position of compression spring (2).
- Keep collar screw and spur gearing of wheel bearing/output shaft clean and free from grease
Part : Replace collar screw and compression spring.
Tighten collar screw (1) and compression spring hand-tight.
- Spur gearing of wheel bearing (1) and output shaft (2) must be installed form-fit (tooth in tooth position)!
Check whether spur gearing is locked tooth in tooth by reciprocally rotating wheel hub/output shaft.
Once positive locking has been ensured, tighten screw connection to the specified torque.
Tightening torque 33 41 2AZ .
Connect protective cap (1).
