Removing and installing/replacing front roller sunblind (Cooper)

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

Release strip (1) on detent (2) from slider (3).

NOTE: Carry out work on the right side in the same way as for the left side illustrated here.

Shift roller sunblind (1) to dimension (X).

(X) approx. 170 mm

Opening (2) for holding fixture must be visible.

NOTE: Perform the following repair work with a second person to give assistance.
For purposes of clarity, illustration shows removed sliding/tilting sunroof.

Hold down roller sunblind.

Apply maximum tension simultaneously to left and right cables.

Roller sunblind must not jump out of guides (arrow).

Roller sunblind is preloaded by a spring and must be disconnected for disassembly.

Disconnect roller sunblind with suitable tool diameter 2 mm.

The spring detaches when the roller sunblind is not disconnected.

Preloading can not be subsequently established.

NOTE: Front roller sunblind:  Disconnect left side.
Rear roller sunblind:  Disconnect right side.

Slowly move back both cables until holding fixture (1) can be completely inserted.

Detach cable linkage (1) from idler pulley (2).

Hold both cables (1) under voltage and secure to the strip with adhesive tape (2).

Cables must not be detached from roller sunblind in area (A).

Detach roller sunblind at an angle from holder.

Do not pull out roller sunblind straight upwards out of holder.

Carefully unscrew strip (1) from rail and feed out the complete roller sunblind.

Replacement: 

Remove cover (1) and slider (2) and install new parts from repair kit.

NOTE: Carry out work on the right side in the same way as for the left side illustrated here.

Replacement: 

Detach idler pulleys (1) and install new parts from repair kit.

Installation: 

Make sure the cables (2) are correctly fitted to the strip (1).

Carefully insert strip (1) into rails.

Feed roller sunblind below slider (1) and clip in at the rear in holder (2).

Make sure roller sunblind is correctly positioned in side rails.

Attach cable (1) to roller sunblind if necessary.

Depending on the position, the cable (1) must be attached on the inside or outside.

When reeling in the cable must thread into the notch (arrowed).

Attach both cable linkages (1) in idler pulleys (2).

Hold both cables under tension.

Make sure cables (1) are in correct position in rail (3).

Hold both cables under tension and remove holding fixture (1).

Slowly move back both cables.

Slide in and engage slider (1) in strip (2).

Ensure detent (3) is correctly seated.

NOTE: Carry out work on the right side in the same way as for the left side illustrated here.

Make sure cable (1) is in correct position in area of holder (2).

Run a functional check.
