Installing the timing case cover

- Adhere to the utmost cleanliness.
- Protect components from contamination e.g. by covering.
- Close off line connections with seal plugs.
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The processing time of the liquid sealing compound can be at a maximum of 10 min.
Commissioning of the assembly is not possible until 25 minutes after the processing time.
Non-observance can lead to leaks in the assembly.

- Apply the sealing compound (1) approx. 5 mm as shown.
The height of the sealing compound must be approx. between 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm.
- Assemble special tool 2 357 900 as shown.
- Please ensure that no greases or lubricants are used on the special tool 2 357 900
.
- Insert special tool 2 357 900 carefully in the direction of the arrow through the sealing ring in the timing case cover (1).
- Make sure that the special tool 2 357 900 is lying on the timing case cover (1).
- Remove fitting aid (2).
- Connect the special tool 2 357 900
with the timing gear case cover (1) to the hub of the crankshaft (2).
- Insert and install the timing case cover (1) in the direction of the arrow.
- Make sure the guide pins (2) are fitted correctly.
- Hand-tighten the bolts.
- Remove special tool 2 357 900
.
- Make sure the air guide (1) is pointing outwards.
- Hand-tighten the bolts (1).
- Tighten screws (2) crosswise.
