Air bleed the coolant circuit
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Filling without the vacuum filling equipment (watering can filling) is not permitted.
If this is not observed, there is a risk of component damage or engine damage.
The filling specification must be observed.
It is essential to visually check the vacuum filling equipment before use to check that it is functioning correctly and clean.
It is not permissible to operate the vehicle if the filling procedure has not been fully completed. Otherwise there may be functional limitations (degradation) or overheating.
A bleeding procedure is required after a part has been exchanged in the cooling system and/or after refilling the cooling system.

NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Before starting the automatic cooling system bleeding procedure, make sure that the coolant circuit is filled. If the cooling system bleeding procedure is started while one of the coolant circuits is empty, there is a risk of damage to the electric coolant pump when running it dry.
Ensure that terminal 15 does not fail during the bleeding procedure.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Immobilization period-long fill of coolant!
Do not reuse used coolant.
When replacing and removing components which rely on the corrosion protection effect of the coolant, it is essential to change the coolant. The cooling system must therefore be emptied and refilled.
In the case of other removal work involving the draining of part quantities of coolant, the coolant level must be topped up with new coolant.

In case the cooling system bleeding procedure needs to be carried out again: Turn off the ignition until the vehicle or the Electrical Digital Motor Electronics (EDME) has gone to sleep.

- Follow repair instructions!
- Evacuate the coolant circuit and fill it with the vacuum filling equipment.
- Remove the vacuum filling equipment on the coolant expansion tank.
- Fill the coolant expansion tank with 600 ml, over the maximum mark of the coolant expansion tank.
- Open the bleeder screw (1) in the coolant ventilation line for the coolant circuit of the high-voltage battery and unscrew by approx. 10 mm.
- Leave the bleeder screw (1) open for 10 s so that air can escape from the coolant pump of the high-voltage battery.
- Close the bleeder screw (1)
in the coolant ventilation line for the coolant circuit of the high-voltage battery.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Bleeder screw to coolant line Bleeder screw tightening torque 2.5 Nm - Do not open the bleeder screw (2) for the coolant radiator.
- Close the sealing cap on the coolant expansion tank.
- Connect the battery charger 12 V.
High voltage charging is not permitted.
- Make sure that the wheels have ground contact.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Engage selector lever position P (park).
- Turn on the ignition and ensure that it remains turned on (for example, activate the low beams and the hazard warning system at the same time).
- Check that the Driving Dynamics Control is not in the switch position "GREEN" or "GREEN+".
- Connect the diagnostic system and start the routine under the following path: Service functions -> Drive -> Electrical Digital Motor Electronics (EDME) -> Bleed cooling system.
- After completing the cooling system bleeding routine, adjust the fill level in the cold state (< 50° coolant temperature) of the coolant expansion tank to the maximum mark.
- Fill the coolant expansion tank with 100 ml, over the maximum mark of the coolant expansion tank.
- Close the sealing cap (1)
on the coolant expansion tank.
