51 42 000 Remove and install left or right rear door trim panel (Cooper 4-door hatchback models, 2020-2023)

Special tools required: 

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Preliminary work needed: 

Removal: 

IMPORTANT: Do not under any circumstances pull on map pocket.

Remove cover (1).

Unscrew the screws (1).

Release door trim panel from the clips by means of special tool 00 9 325  , beginning at the bottom.

Release door trim panel from upper clamps and remove.

Disengage Bowden cable (1) for release lever first at counter support (2) and then at door lock (3).

Feed out door wiring harness from all holders.

Unlock and disconnect all plug connections, then remove door trim panel.

Installation: 

NOTE: Replace faulty clips.
Replace faulty clamps.

Feed in door wiring harness in all mountings.

Connect and lock all plug connections.

Attach bowden cable (1) for release lever first to door lock (3) and then to counter support (2).

Engage door trim panel into the clips at the top.

Engage door trim panel into the clips.

Tighten down screws (1).

Install trim (1).

NOTE: After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:
  • Open side window
  • Lock with ignition key
  • Check for ease of movement on lock button linkage
  • If necessary, align linkage

Required follow-up work:
