Installing the automatic transmission on the engine
- Make sure that the hole (1) of the flywheel is accessible from the recess on the engine oil pan.
- Check the fitting sleeves (2) for a correct fit and damage, replace if necessary.
- Position the engine (1) with a workshop crane and the special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070) on the lifting table 2 184 136.
- Guide out the workshop crane with the special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070)
from the engine (1) and move it aside.
- Slide the table top (B) in arrow direction toward the table top (A) and position the automatic transmission (1) on the engine.
- Turn the torque converter until the bore of the torque converter is aligned with the bore of the flywheel.
- Flange-mount the automatic transmission to the engine.

Transmission to engine M8 Tightening torque 19 Nm M12 Tightening torque 66 Nm NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the engine.
If the engine is manually rotated in the wrong direction of rotation, the engine can be damaged.- Only rotate the engine manually in the correct direction of rotation: a) clockwise when looking at the damper, or b) counterclockwise when looking at the chain drive, b) applies only if the timing chain is installed in the rear.
- Turn the engine with the special tool 0 493 380 (11 6 480) at the vibration damper in the direction of rotation.
- Replace nuts (1).

- Tighten 6 nuts (1) of the torque converter.TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Torque converter to flywheel M10 Replace nuts. (Remove any adhesive residue from the threads) 56 Nm
